5K PR - 20:38

10K PR - 48:18; from back in the days when I didn't really run and knew nothing about pacing

Short-Term Running Goals:

My short term running goals would be to run a sub 5 minute mile as well as a marathon in under 3 hours.

If I achieve the above, this will probably be close to taking care of itself, but I would love to be able to go out and run 6:00 miles at a hard, but comfortable pace.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I would like, at some point, to complete both an Ironman and a Century.

Also, I would love to go sub 2:38 for the marathon, though I'm not sure if that is possible, especially given that I will never be ultra light, the upper body strength and muscle is too important for golf.

And, of course, to stay committed to running and health my whole life, with as little injury as possible.

Personal:

I have started logging here today, because I like the community I have seen and the possibility of getting coaching from some great runners is pretty awesome. I am not, however, going to transfer over 2 years of running training from my main running log tracker. If you're looking for that data its here:

Golf is my favorite activity out there. I started playing junior year of high school and have since progressed to a +1 handicap, who hopes to begin playing colleigately my junior year.

Damn. Achilles felt good after a day or so off, but was definitely starting to tighten up with pain creeping in so I had to cut the run short. This is probably a result of being pretty lax on my stretching + increasing mileage the last month and a half. I'll probably cut the running out on thursday and friday to rest up for racing on saturday, hopefully that will be discomfort free.

Once the discomfort subsides definitely gotta get back at it with the stretching and strengthening of the calves, sure as heck don't want this one turning into some chronic tendinosis.

On a side note, excellent run going today, pace was solid and I was running pretty bang easy.

Did a 20 mile bike today to get off the achilles, speed was pretty good as I finished the ride in just about a minute over an hour.

Just a recovery run following yesterday's long one. Took it very easy and decided to reduce it down from 6 to 4 because I'm stilling feeling some...stiffness is probably the right word, down in the achilles area, but it feels like it could turn painful in a hurry. Hopefully it feels better tomorrow and I don't have to cut anything short.

Enjoyable long run today, after I got into the flow of it at any rate. At the beginning I was interupted by a stray and had to complete change the route, which definitely tacked on extra mileage, about 1.5 miles extra. Then I had another encounter about 3.5 miles into the run in which the owner was by the stream and had his dog off the leash, so I had to go by very slowly. After that it was pretty good.

The weather was nice and cool, moderately breezey to mildly windy, but very pleasant. A very enjoyable day to be out running.

The run itself was great until the halfway turnaround, about 2 miles after that I definitely had a little bit of tiredness seem to settle in. Around mile 12 I started getting some discomfort/stiffness in the achilles area of my right ankle, it didn't really seem to worsen as the run went on but I will be heavily monitoring it when I go out tomorrow. Oddly, the tiredness kind of lifted with about 3 or so miles to go and I finished feeling almost refreshed. Pace was very easy, as was HR, clocking in at a little under 140 for the majority of the run.
